Job Summary

Strategically and functionally oversees all aspects of human resources management within a hotel, including but not limited to developing and executing HR strategies and policies to strengthen the organization's objectives, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations, budgeting, talent acquisition, learning and development, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, staff engagement, safety and welfare, and other essential HR functions.

Responsibilities and Duties

Managing the Human Resource Strategies and Policies

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Embody core values through proactive approaches that positively impact staff performance and contribute to business success.
  • Develop and monitor HR policies, procedures, tools, and practices across the property.

Labor Laws and Regulations Compliance

  • Ensure alignment of all HR policies, procedures, and practices with labor laws, regulations, and audit requirements.

Managing Talent Acquisition

  • Lead the manning budgeting efforts for the property.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with all recruitment sources.
  • Manage the property's career site, social media, and other online platforms to present the organization as an attractive employer.
  • Participate in relevant industry events, forums, career fairs, and online communities to engage with potential candidates and build relationships.
  • Ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process, from initial contact to onboarding, to make a lasting impression.
  • Collaborate closely with HMD Asia’s talent acquisition team and hiring manager to ensure hiring quality and accelerate time-to-fill positions effectively.

Managing Learning and Development

  • Ensure proper staff orientation and onboarding programs
  • Collaborate closely with the training team and management team to establish a training budget aligned with business strategies.
  • Analyze training needs, develop training plans and facilitator’s guides, manage training assessments, and ensure the efficiency and productivity of training initiatives to achieve the training goals.
  • Lead the staff learning and development program, including cross-exposure opportunities, talent development plans, and succession planning initiatives.

Managing Compensation and Benefits

  • Participate in market labor rate surveys aligned with the group’s guidance and approval.
  • Remain current and knowledgeable about internal and external compensation and competitive work environments.
  • Champion the communication and proper use of total compensation systems, tools, programs, and policies.
  • Suggest and implement total compensation management initiatives, particularly recognition and incentive programs aligned with property priorities.

Managing the Employee Relations

  • Stay current and knowledgeable about labor laws and regulations.
  • Ensure proper handling of staff grievances and disciplinary procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with the management team to educate and promote adherence to staff rules, regulations, and policies among all staff members.

Managing Employee Engagement

  • Initiate, budget, and implement staff welfare and activity programs.
  • Optimize the staff experience through employee engagement surveys and/or staff committee programs.
  • Manage the staff dormitories to ensure quality stays, comfort, and hygiene.
  • Collaborate closely with the staff canteen team to maintain high-quality staff food.
  • Establish staff shuttle services and ensure staff safety during transportation.

Others

  • Generate HR reports in accordance with the group’s guidelines.
  • Undertake additional tasks and perform related HR functions as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, or a related field, along with at least 3 years in HR management and leadership experience.
  • Proficiency in English communication.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and familiarity with HR information systems is a plus.

  • Communication skills - must be able to communicate clearly, both written and orally, as to communicate with employees, members of the HR management team, and in group presentations and meetings
  • Mathematic skills - must be able to effectively read and interpret information, present numerical data in a resourceful manner, and skillfully gather and analyze information
  • Time management skills - must be able to prioritize and plan work activities as to use time efficiently
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail - must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality
  • Performance management - must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and must be able to improve performance through management feedback.
  • Problem-solving skills - must be proficient at problem-solving, including being able to identify issues and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Business acumen - Knowledge of budgets and possess the analytical skills to review a budget and take necessary actions is critical. Be able to decide how to achieve the revenue budget, allocate its staffing budget and manage expenses.
  • Delegation - The ability to assign responsibilities and authority to the right employees, taking their interests, ambitions, development and competency into account.
  • Motivation - The ability to set high standards regarding the quality and quantity of the work to be done. It includes displaying a commitment to the organization and enthusiasm for its products and services. It is demonstrated by conveying confidence in others’ capabilities and appealing to others’ unique needs, motives, and goals to motivate them to achieve. It culminates in celebrating others’ successes and praising them for a job well done.
