As a Senior Financial Officer, you will report directly to the Finance Director and lead key financial functions with direct reports. You will play a critical role in delivering consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, monitoring financial KPIs, and providing accurate financial insights to support strategic decision-making across hospital operations.
This role ensures strong financial governance, regulatory compliance, and ethical financial practices by preparing and submitting tax and regulatory reports, analyzing financial data to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, identifying financial and compliance risks, supporting audits, and continuously updating financial procedures.
You will act as a bridge between operations and senior management, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and compliance while helping the organization avoid regulatory penalties and strengthen overall financial performance.
1. Financial Management & Business Support
- Provide finance support to accounting teams related to hospital operations, demand planning, reporting, and performance metrics in a timely and accurate manner.
- Identify and understand business and operational challenges; propose data-driven financial solutions and improvement initiatives.
- Partner closely with finance leadership and central finance teams to align on financial metrics, KPIs, targets, budgets, and business reviews.
- Analyze complex financial and operational data and act as a subject matter expert to provide actionable insights to management.
- Support corporate-wide projects and initiatives with financial and operational impact across the organization.
2. Financial Reporting
- Lead the preparation, consolidation, and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Develop, monitor, and analyze financial KPIs to support performance management and decision-making.
- Ensure financial statements comply with applicable accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Review general ledger accounts, journal entries, accruals, and adjustments to ensure proper financial reporting.
- Prepare management reports, dashboards, and variance analyses for senior leadership.
- Identify, analyze, and explain variances between actual results, budget, forecast, and prior-year performance, recommending corrective actions where necessary.
- Coordinate with accounting teams to ensure consistent reporting methodologies and documentation.
3. Compliance, Controls & Audit
- Prepare and submit tax filings and regulatory reports accurately and in accordance with applicable laws and deadlines.
- Analyze financial data to ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and internal financial policies.
- Identify financial, regulatory, and operational risks, and recommend mitigation measures.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to audit queries, and ensuring timely resolution of findings.
- Monitor and strengthen internal controls to mitigate financial, operational, and compliance risks.
- Assist in the development, review, and continuous improvement of financial policies, SOPs, and compliance frameworks.
- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping in line with regulatory and audit requirements.
4. Planning, Forecasting & Decision Support
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process, including assumptions, scenario modeling, and sensitivity analysis.
- Develop financial models and projections to support strategic initiatives, investments, and operational planning.
- Prepare presentations that clearly communicate financial analysis, highlight risks and opportunities, and support executive decision-making.
5. Stakeholder & Leadership Support
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, department heads, and cross-functional teams at all levels.
- Act as a key liaison between operations and senior management, ensuring financial clarity, transparency, and ethical standards.
- Support investor relations activities, including earnings guidance scenario modeling, executive presentations, Q&A support, and ad hoc financial analysis.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and oversight to junior finance staff to ensure high-quality output and professional development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; professional certifications (ACCA, CPA, CMA) are an advantage.
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or financial reporting, preferably in healthcare or complex organizations.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, taxation, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven experience in preparing and analyzing financial statements, KPIs, and management reports.
- Solid understanding of internal controls, audit processes, and risk management.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; ERP or financial systems experience is an advantage.
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and ability to influence decisions and drive results across the organization.
