The HR Manager will lead the human resources function for the construction operations, ensuring that the workforce is skilled, safe, and compliant. You will bridge the gap between the corporate office and field sites, managing everything from rapid-scale recruitment for new projects to navigating complex union relations and labor laws.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Manage high-volume recruitment of skilled trades (electricians, carpenters, welders) and management staff (Project Managers, Estimators) to meet specific project deadlines.
- Ensure all independent contractors and subcontractors meet company standards and legal classifications.
- Develop strategies to scale the workforce up or down based on the project pipeline.
Safety & Compliance
- Partner with Safety Department to ensure 100% completion of SFS-required training and certifications for all field staff.
- Navigate specific regulations like prevailing wages for public works and various state-specific labor codes.
Employee & Labor Relations
- Regularly visit active construction sites to address grievances, boost morale, and ensure policy consistency across different locations.
- Manage collective bargaining agreements and serve as the primary point of contact for union representatives.
- Mediate disputes between field crews and management to prevent project delays.
Compensation & Benefits
- Oversee payroll processes that often involve complex "prevailing wage" reporting and various per-diem structures for traveling crews.
- Design retention bonuses or safety-based rewards to reduce high turnover rates.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business, or related field.
- 5+ years in HR, with at least 2-3 years specifically in Construction or Engineering.
- Good in English Communication
- Experiences from Construction Industry is advantage
- Good Leadership skills and Problem solving
