To support the Lead Teacher in creating and delivering a high-quality, play-based learning environment. The Teaching Assistant plays a vital role in and ensuring the safety, hygiene, and developmental progress of all students.
Educational Support
- Intentional Play: Assist in setting up "invitations to play" and learning centres that reflect the curriculum outcomes.
- Small Group Support: Lead small group activities under the guidance of the Lead Teacher to support literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
- Observation Assistance: Help collect "learning stories," photos, and observations for student portfolios to track developmental milestones.
Classroom Management & Safety
- Supervision: Always maintain active supervision of children, including during outdoor play, mealtimes, and rest periods.
- Health & Hygiene: Assist with toileting/diapering, handwashing routines, and ensuring the classroom environment remains sanitized and organized.
- Safety Standards: Report any maintenance or safety hazards to the principal immediately to meet safety compliance regulations.
Professional Collaboration
- Team Participation: Attend staff meetings and contribute to programme planning and reflection.
- Parent Interaction: Provide friendly, professional daily updates to parents regarding their child’s wellbeing and routine (e.g., eating and sleeping).
- Continuous Learning: Participate in mandatory professional development workshops as required by the Ministry of Education Youth and Sport and the school’s strategic plan.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Minimum High School Diploma (Grade 12). Preference given to candidates with an associate degree or those currently studying Early Childhood Education.
- Language: Proficient in English (speaking\ listening\writing) to communicate with parents and international staff.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience working with children (ages 2–6) in a school, nursery, or day care setting.
- Character: Must possess the "personal characteristics" prescribed by the MoEYS: i.e. patient, nurturing, and dedicated to child development.
