Job Summary

The Purchasing Supervisor manages the procurement process, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Oversee the entire procurement process, from identifying needs to placing orders and ensuring timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure the best prices and quality for materials and services. Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supply while minimizing excess stock. Coordinate with the warehouse and production teams to manage inventory efficiently.
  • Analyze and manage procurement costs to ensure budget compliance. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce expenses.
  • Ensure all purchased materials and services meet the company's quality standards. Work with suppliers to resolve any quality issues promptly.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, new products, and potential suppliers. Use insights to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and relevant regulations. Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit purposes.
  • Supervise and mentor junior purchasing staff, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their goals. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, costs, and supplier performance to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers. Act as the main point of contact for supplier communications.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, preferably in the paint and coatings industry.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
