Responsibilities and Duties

Develop and implement comprehensive strategies, policies, and procedures for NPL management and loan recovery, aligning with organizational objectives.
Identify the root causes of NPLs and Loan Written Offs (LWO) through analysis and on-site client/branch visits to develop preventative and corrective actions.
Forecast NPL trends, LWO trends, and collection achievements.
Oversee and manage all NPL and LWO collection activities across branches and the Head Office.
Direct the Recovery Team, Branch Managers (BM), Deputy Branch Managers (DBM), and Credit Officers (CO) in their NPL collection efforts.
Approve and manage legal action processes, including filing suits to court and monitoring court proceedings for debt recovery.
Develop and update tools and systems for monitoring NPL and LWO management at all levels of the organization.
Prepare and submit regular, accurate, and timely reports on NPL, LWO, restructured loans, and Watch List status to senior management and regulatory bodies.
Analyze portfolio performance, compare loan quality month-over-month, and evaluate collection efficiency against targets.
Ensure all recovery and collection practices are compliant with internal policies, external regulations, and ethical standards, avoiding abusive or coercive practices.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or Law (a degree in Law is often a strong preference or requirement).
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in credit management, financial analysis, or NPL management, with a significant part of this experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a Bank or MFI.
Strong Analytical and Financial Acumen: Ability to analyze complex financial data, calculate risk ratios, and understand financial statements.
