The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of hotel operations, ensuring high levels of guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, team leadership, and financial performance. The GM must maintain quality standards, manage staff, and implement strategies to maximize profitability.
- Leadership & Strategic Management
- Develop and implement business strategies aligned with hotel goals.
- Lead, supervise, and motivate all department heads (Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, Sales, etc.).
- Foster a positive and professional work environment.
- Financial Management
- Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Monitor revenue performance and cost control.
- Implement strategies to maximize profit and reduce operational costs.
- Guest Relations
- Ensure exceptional customer service and handle major guest complaints personally.
- Maintain high guest satisfaction ratings and encourage guest feedback.
- Implement quality assurance programs.
- Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations and ensure smooth functioning across all departments.
- Monitor hotel standards and ensure compliance with regulations (safety, hygiene, legal).
- Approve standard operating procedures (SOPs) and service protocols.
- Sales & Marketing
- Work closely with the Sales & Marketing team to grow revenue.
- Promote the hotel brand and develop local and international partnerships.
- Oversee pricing strategies and market positioning.
- Human Resources
- Recruit, train, and retain high-performing staff.
- Conduct performance reviews and support professional development.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and internal HR policies.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management, Business Administration, or related field (master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience in hotel management, with at least 3 years as a GM or similar leadership role.
- Strong financial acumen and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication in English (other languages are a plus).
- Knowledge of hotel management software (e.g., Opera, PMS systems).
