Job Summary

The Commercial Director is responsible for defining and executing the company’s overall commercial strategy to drive sustainable revenue growth, profitability, and market leadership. This role oversees sales, marketing, pricing, channel strategy, and key customer relationships, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics in the agrochemical sector.

Responsibilities and Duties

Commercial Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and lead the company’s overall commercial strategy aligned with business goals and market opportunities.
  • Translate corporate strategy into clear sales, marketing, and business development plans.
  • Drive revenue growth, margin improvement, and market share expansion.
  • Provide strategic input to the executive team on market trends, risks, and growth opportunities.

Sales & Revenue Management

  • Oversee national and regional sales operations to ensure achievement of sales targets and profitability.
  • Approve sales forecasts, budgets, and incentive schemes.
  • Monitor sales performance by product, region, and channel; take corrective actions when needed.
  • Ensure strong distributor, dealer, and key account management.

Marketing & Product Strategy

  • Lead marketing strategy, including product positioning, pricing, promotions, and go-to-market plans.
  • Oversee product launch strategies and lifecycle management.
  • Ensure marketing activities support sales objectives and brand positioning.
  • Collaborate with technical and regulatory teams to ensure compliant promotion of agrochemical products.

Channel & Key Account Management

  • Define and optimize channel strategies (distributors, dealers, retailers, institutional customers).
  • Lead negotiations with key distributors, strategic partners, and large customers.
  • Approve commercial terms, pricing structures, rebates, and trade agreements.
  • Build long-term strategic partnerships to strengthen market presence.

Financial & Commercial Governance

  • Ensure commercial activities meet profitability, cost control, and budget objectives.
  • Work closely with Finance to manage pricing, margins, credit policies, and collections.
  • Approve commercial policies, discount frameworks, and risk exposure.
  • Ensure transparency, internal control, and compliance in all commercial transactions.

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure all commercial activities comply with agrochemical regulations, product registration conditions, and ethical standards.
  • Coordinate with Regulatory, Operations, and Legal teams on market authorization, labeling, and claims.
  • Mitigate commercial and regulatory risks related to products and market practices.

People Leadership & Capability Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Sales, Marketing, and Commercial teams.
  • Set clear KPIs and performance expectations for direct reports (e.g., RSM, REP).
  • Build a high-performance, customer-focused commercial culture.
  • Support succession planning and leadership development.

Market Intelligence & Business Development

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, pricing movements, and customer behavior.
  • Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and portfolio expansion options.
  • Support M&A, strategic alliances, or new market entry initiatives where applicable.


Qualifications and Skills

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong commercial and strategic leadership capability
  • Proven experience driving revenue growth and profitability
  • Deep understanding of sales, marketing, and channel management
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Financial acumen (pricing, margin, P&L understanding)
  • Excellent communication and executive presentation skills
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); Khmer is a strong advantage
  • High integrity, compliance mindset, and results orientation

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomist, Marketing or Agriculture.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of commercial experience, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong background in agrochemicals, or agricultural inputs
  • Proven experience managing national or multi-regional commercial operations.
  • Experience working with distributors and complex channel structures.
  • Exposure to emerging or frontier markets is an advantage
