Job Summary

Lead the setup, launch and ongoing development of the Cambodia cut and sew operation, producing complete kits for furniture and upholstery assembly.

Build a scalable local production organization and operating processes to meet approved quality, cost, delivery and safety objectives. Plan capacity and workforce growth in response to business demand, working with regional manufacturing leadership, the regional team in Vietnam and site support teams.

Responsibilities and Duties

Factory Setup and Capacity Validation

  • Develop the startup and expansion plans for layout, staffing, equipment commissioning, pilot runs and capacity increases. Coordinate installation, production and shipment milestones with the project lead, Legal and Supply Chain to meet registration and permit requirements. Lead local execution within approved regional plans and delegated authority, obtaining required approvals for headcount, spending, equipment, shifts and major operational changes.
  • Validate capacity with Industrial Engineering using product mix, Standard Minute Values (SMV), line balancing and realistic learning curves. Reconcile operator, machine and line requirements before committing output or headcount.
  • Assess rental-site readiness with Engineering and EHS, covering layout, material flow, loading, power, lighting and cooling.
  • Prioritize suitable machines and racking available from regional operations in Vietnam. Confirm condition, installation and acceptance with Engineering and Maintenance, and validate capability through pilot production.

Cut and Sew Processes and Kit Quality

  • Establish the flow from fabric inspection and cutting through bundling, sewing, kit matching and packing. Translate approved patterns, bills of materials and specifications into work instructions.
  • Coordinate product and process transfer from Vietnam with Technical and Quality. Control cutting accuracy, fabric direction, shade matching, seam construction, dimensions and fit against approved samples. Validate pilot kits through downstream assembly and obtain required approvals before volume production. Resolve recurring defects.
  • Ensure each kit contains the correct components and quantities, with accurate identification, traceability and packing. Prevent incomplete kits, mixed styles and shade mismatches reaching downstream assembly.
  • Define incoming, inline, final and outgoing inspection responsibilities with site and regional Quality teams. Be accountable for producing conforming kits while maintaining Quality's inspection and release responsibilities. Support supplier qualification.

Production Planning Cost and Operational Handover

  • Align daily and weekly plans with materials, training capacity, cutting and sewing output, complete kit availability and dispatch. Control work in progress and resolve production bottlenecks.
  • Manage production spending and improvement priorities within approved budgets. Track efficiency, labor cost, fabric utilization, rework and downtime, and justify additional equipment or shifts using demonstrated performance.
  • Coordinate production data and traceability workflows with IT and support functions. With Operations, recommend outsourcing reductions only when Cambodia's capacity, quality and delivery performance support the transition.

Local Team Development and Vietnam Support

  • Build a scalable production organization with HR, appointing supervisors, line leaders and technical staff in advance of workforce growth. Establish operator training, skills matrices and cross-training plans aligned with the approved business ramp.
  • Define objectives for approved Vietnam support assignments and visiting production teams. Transfer methods, train local trainers and verify learning and productivity through observed performance. Develop local supervisory and technical capability to progressively reduce dependence on visiting support teams.
  • Lead daily shop-floor reviews, coach supervisors and assign corrective actions for output, defects, shortages and downtime. Report launch progress and material operating risks to site and regional leadership.
  • Safety and Continuous Improvement
  • Be accountable for safe production execution, working with EHS, Engineering and HR on operating readiness, operator training, ergonomics, machine and needle controls, and appropriate working-hour arrangements. Address unsafe conditions before starting or continuing affected work. Maintain transparent dealings with suppliers and authorities.
  • Apply Lean, 5S, visual management and root cause problem solving to improve flow, quality and productivity. Anticipate expansion needs and prepare capacity options covering labor, training, equipment and facility readiness. Implement approved expansion plans in line with business demand, safety, quality and operating readiness.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree or diploma in Textile or Garment Technology, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Management or a related field; equivalent practical manufacturing experience may be considered.
  • At least 8 years in sewing-intensive manufacturing, including at least 3 years managing production teams in garment manufacturing, upholstery, home textiles or comparable sewn products.
  • Proven experience starting up a factory, production department or sewing lines, including layout, equipment readiness, workforce training, pilot production and capacity expansion.
  • Strong practical knowledge of cutting and industrial sewing, standard times, line balancing, quality control and material utilization. Able to resolve technical issues on the production floor.
  • Experience leading supervisors and a substantial workforce, managing production budgets and coordinating with Engineering, Quality, Planning, Maintenance and HR. Able to work with limited initial infrastructure, handle implementation personally, prioritize essential investments and escalate obstacles promptly.
  • Working proficiency in spoken and written English for technical discussions and management reporting; willing to work on site in Koh Kong and develop a local team.
