
Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager and the Emerald Group’s Senior Accountant, the Management Accountant will be directly involved in meeting the financial and statutory reporting obligations of the Company, as well as assisting in managing its internal control processes. This role will be directly involved in the preparation of monthly mine and management reports and will assist with commercial matters as required from time to time. In achieving these functions, the Management Accountant will be required to work closely with Mine Operations, Exploration and Corporate departments, as well as the Emerald Resources head office in Perth, Australia.
· FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING: Prepare and post general ledger journals. Prepare month end close including reconciliations and schedules. Provide assistance and resolve queries regarding financial matters from internal and external stakeholders. Assist with year end close.
· MANAGEMENT AND EXTERNAL REPORTING: Prepare monthly management reports. Liaise with management for end of month financial statement commentary. Provide support for tenement expenditure and reporting. Prepare expense analysis reports on expenditure and budgets. Assist in preparing quarterly expenditure reports to the Ministry of Mines & Energy.
· ACCOUNTS PAYABLE: Oversee the accounts payable function for mine site related costs, review and post invoice batches. Assist in checking invoice bank detail as part of the payment process, and check and verify new suppliers created in the accounting system.
· RISK MANAGEMENT AND INTERNAL CONTROL MAINTENANCE: Identify potential risks to the financial reporting process. Assist in the design, implementation and monitoring of internal controls.
· TAXATION: Assist with the preparation of income tax.
· BUDGETS AND FORECASTS: Assist with the preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts, including cash requirements.
· STATUTORY REPORTING: Analyse and apply relevant accounting standards. Liaise with external auditors and advisors. Assist in the preparation of Annual Financial Statements.
· Other ad hoc tasks requested by management.
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
· Certified Professional Accountant preferred (ACCA, CPA).
· Extensive knowledge of accounting standards and financial regulations.
· Minimum 3 years’ accounting experience in commerce or audit
· Previous experience in mining or similar industry would be an advantage.
· Previous experience using Pronto ERP system would be an advantage.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel (intermediate to advanced), Word (intermediate).
· Proactive and able to work autonomously.
· Good organisational and time management skills. Ability to manage priorities to meet deadlines.
· Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
