A Post Production Lead is responsible for overseeing the entire post-production process, ensuring that all media content meets the highest quality standards. This role involves managing a team of editors, sound designers, and VFX artists, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in post-production, strong leadership skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Report to: Head of Production
1) Project Management (20%)
- Planning and Scheduling: Develop a detailed post-production timeline, allocate resources, and set deadlines
- Team Coordination: Manage editors, sound designers, VFX artists, and other post-production staff
- Budget Management: Track post-production expenses, negotiate with vendors, and ensure the project stays within budget
2) Editing (25%)
- Offline Editing: Assemble the raw footage into a rough cut, ensuring the narrative structure is coherent
- Online Editing: Fine-tune the rough cut, focusing on the technical aspects like color correction and visual effects
- Dialogue Editing: Clean up and synchronize dialogue tracks
- Sound Effects: Add and mix sound effects to enhance the visual elements
- Music Integration: Integrate score and soundtrack, ensuring it complements the visuals
- VFX Planning: Collaborate with the director to plan and execute visual effects shots
- Implementation: Oversee the creation and integration of VFX, ensuring they align with the creative vision
- Color Correction: Adjust colors to ensure consistency across shots
- Color Grading: Apply stylistic color treatments to enhance the visual storytelling
3) Final Delivery & Document (15%)
- Mastering: Prepare the final version of the project, ensuring it meets all technical specifications
- Exporting: Export the final project in the required formats for distribution
- Archiving: Organize and store all project files for future use
- Reports: Create detailed reports documenting the post-production process, decisions made, and any issues encountered
- Backup: Maintain backups of all critical project files to prevent data loss
4) Quality Control (30%)
- Technical Checks: Ensure all audio and video elements meet industry standards
- Final Review: Conduct a final review to catch any errors or inconsistencies
- Internal Review: Conduct regular review sessions with the post-production team to ensure quality
- Client/Director Feedback: Gather feedback from the client or director and implement necessary changes
5) Client Communication (10%)
- Updates: Provide regular updates to clients on the progress of the post-production process
- Approval: Obtain final approval from clients before the project is delivered
- Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media Production, Communication, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in post-production, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Extensive experience with editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer) and post-production tools
- Proficiency with post-production software and tools
- Understanding of various video and audio formats, codecs, and compression techniques
- Proficient in sound design, VFX, and color grading processes
- Keen eye for detail and a strong aesthetic sense
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in post-production
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with color grading software (e.g., DaVinci Resolve)
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to handle and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Occasional travel may be necessary for on-location post-production work
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
